On Sunday, September 11 2011 the New Haven Sunday vigil will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 2001 attacks and the terrible loss of several thousand lives.
The message of many Americans then was “Our grief is not a cry for war.” The world stood with us.
But the Bush administration seized the moment to advance an ongoing agenda of war on the world. The Obama administration, which we looked toward with some promise, has escalated the agenda. The lives lost from these wars against people who had nothing to do with the September 11 attacks are uncounted, but surely number in hundreds of thousands or more.
So we say again, “War on Terrorism? War is Terrorism.”
